Invaders surge in Trelawny Major League
BUNKERS HILL, Trelawny — Invaders SC took over the lead in Zone One of the Trelawny Football Association National Rums of Jamaica Major League on Saturday after beating Coopers Pen 2-1 at Bunkers Hill.
The win, which was secured when Invaders came from a goal down, saw them overtaking Granville FC who were upset by Spicy Hill.
The win carried Invaders to eight points, two more than Granville who finished their first-round schedule on six points after going down 2-1 to Spicy Hill at Georgia Playing field.
Christopher Noble gave Coopers Pen a second-minute lead, but Jevaughn Clarke equalised for Invaders in the ninth minute before Sheldon Bryan gave them the winner in the 47th minute.
Spicy Hill, who were scoring their first win of the season, also came from behind after Omar Scott’s second goal of the season gave Granville the lead in the 27th minute.
Ojay Smith levelled for Spicy Hill in the 35th minute, while Damin Williams scored the winner in the 75th minute.
In another game played Saturday, Flames and Exidos So Fresh ended 0-0 to both be on five points in Zone Two.
