Junior golfers looking good in Cayman
JAMAICA’S junior golfers got off to a fine start in the 2013 Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championships currently being played at the challenging North Sound Golf Course in Grand Cayman.
Justin Burrowes shot an impressive two over par 73 to take the lead in the Boys’ 11-13 category. Sebert Walker is currently tied in sixth on 79 in that category.
In the Boys’ 14-15 group, Romaine Evans had 74 strokes, which placed him in fifth position going into the second day of the championships. Jordan Lowe finished with 90.
Xandre Roye shot 80, which leaves him nine shots off the lead in the Boys’ 16-17 group.
Kei Harris and Tiana Cruz are lying third and fourth, respectively, in the Girls’ 11-13 section.
The lone player in the 14-15 competition, Kaitlin Robertson finished with 88 strokes, which puts her in seventh position. Sherisse Walker is in sixth position, going into the second day’s round on 96.
The championship, which takes place over three days, will end today. Sponsorship support is provided by the Sandals Foundation and Tropicars.
