Steer Town to make D’Cup debut
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Steer Town High will make their debut in the 20013 ISSA daCosta Cup schoolboys’ football competition, it was announced on Wednesday at the planning meeting held at Manchester High in Mandeville.
The St Ann school is expected to join 84 others in the competition this will kick off on September 7 at the Montego Bay Sports Complex along with the Manning Cup that will see 42 schools taking part in seven zones.
At the meeting, Competitions Officer of ISSA George Forbes, warned coaches and managers that they must set the example for the players, especially when it came to reaction to calls by referees.
Forbes said too often there were disputes on the field where the players were feeding off the examples set by coaches and others on the bench.
In addition to Steer Town making their debut, another six schools will be returning to the competition — Anchovy High, Knockalva Technical, Newell High, DeCarteret College, Annotto Bay and Irwin High.
To facilitate the quota of a maximum number of six schools per zone, it was also announced that several schools have been moved from the zones they played in last year.
Former champions Herbert Morrison Technical will play in Zone C after playing in Zone B last year, Hopewell High return to Zone B after playing in Zone C last year, Black River moves to Zone D after playing in Zone E; Albert Town will play in Zone I, while Fogo Road High will swap Zone M for Zone
