Pepperpot: Workplace brawl
She finally carried out her threat to tackle the executive at his workplace. Frightened employees nearly stampeded when the fight started. The security was in a bind, not knowing whether to call in the police, as a company executive was involved.
Sore loser
The one who lost out in the recent elections for the prestigious sporting body was most unsportsmanlike in declaring he is leaving the scene. Has he not learnt anything from his many years in the sporting arena? Take your loss with more grace, man!
Sectarian sectorals
The parliamentarians seem to have taken their sectoral presentations more seriously this year than previously. In one case, that of ‘Babsy’ Grange, the MP stood her ground when attempts were made to postpone her presentation, insisting that she had hardly slept the night before as she was working on it. Huge sums of money were spent on hitting the right note and creating sound bytes. Speechwriters and researchers are laughing all the way to the bank.
AJ standing tall
The Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Minister A J Nicholson is looking good these days after his forthright pro-Caricom stance in the dispute between Jamaica’s private sector and the Trinidad Government. His speech to the meeting on trade last Tuesday was excellent.
Asafa in Ostrava
Can Asafa Powell only run when he is doing so for money? Barely a week after he placed seventh in the 100m at the Jamaica Trials, our favourite athletic son wins the blue riband event in a respectable time at Ostrava.
Question of the week
Are they getting ready to release Vybz Kartel, starting with his visit to hospital?
