Exhibition opens today
LENS, Camera, Shoot! The Photographer’s Intuitive Eye exhibition opens at the Bolivar Gallery on Grove Road in St Andrew today at 7 pm.
Part of this year’s Kingston on the Edge (KOTE) Urban Arts Festival, the exhibition will feature works by photographers Varun Baker and Adrian Dale. The exhibition will run through to July 20.
Curator Rori Matthews shared her reasons for selecting the photographers.
“We always try to do something fresh and exciting for Kingston on the Edge. We did a show with Varun Baker last year and people were impressed with his work and so were we, so we invited him to show some pieces here again,” Mathews told The Jamaica Observer.
“For Adrian, photography has been more of a hobby up to this point. But when I spoke to him about doing an exhibit, he got in touch with someone who could print images on zinc. We thought the two photographers would make a great combination,” she continued.
Baker’s theme is Kingston Noir, which is a visual exploration of urban/contemporary Kingston while Dale reflects his passion for the outdoors.
The exhibition’s opening will also see live musical performances by Papiumba Big Band and Robot Taxi along with fashions by Liquid Gold Modelling Agency.
Bolivar Gallery’s opening hours are Tuesday — Friday 9 am — 5 pm and Saturday from 10 am — 2 pm.
