MONTEGO BAY, St James — NORTH Gully Ambassadors (NGA) and Montego Bay Boys’ Club will commence their quest for club football supremacy in St James and a place in the Western Confederation Super League next season, when they meet in the first -leg final of the St James Sandals/ATL Group Senior League at Jarrett Park on Sunday, starting at 7:00 pm.
Both teams are seeking their first hold on the Senior League, and while Boys’ Club ruled the roost in the old Division One Leagues in the 1960s and 1970s, winning 10 titles in a row once, they are clawing their way back to respectability after years in the lower leagues.
The teams secured their places in the two-way final, after victories over Fogo United and Little Miami in the semi-finals; Boys’ Club beat Fogo United 2-1 for a 3-1 aggregate.
NGA shocked Little Miami 1-0 in the other game when veteran and former national representative Hector Wright conjured up a bit of magic with a spectacular 25-yard free-kick in the return leg semi-final at Jarrett Park on Friday.
North Gully Ambassadors won the only meeting between the teams this season, a must-win 2-1 victory in a late season third round game after Boys Club had clinched their place in the semi-finals.
Boys’ Club was dominant this season with a league- leading 10 wins and topped the points, tables with 34 points while North Gully Ambassadors was third overall tied on 30 points with second-placed Little Miami who were chasing a third straight place in the finals.
Leroy Christie has eight goals, Kalusha Kotes has six, and Glenroy Williams has five goals for Boys Club, while Wright has scored a series of big goals for NGA to take them through to the finals.
The return leg will be played at Jarrett Park on June 30.
