35 golfers for CBS/AMCHAM Classic
OVER thirty-five golfers completed their registration for the upcoming Columbus Business Solutions/AMCHAM Golf Classic which will be held this Sunday at the Caymanas Golf Club in St Catherine.
According to Becky Stockhausen, AmCham CEO and member of the organising committee, plans are well underway for a successful tournament.
Speaking at the pre-registration function held at the Acropolis in Barbican on Tuesday, Stockhausen said that several golfers had already completed their registration and collected their tee gifts. She also said that prizes will include airline tickets, weekends for two, spa certificates, electronic appliances as well as trophies for the various winners.
Tournament director David Mais indicated that the golf course was in great shape and that it should be improved further with the rains which should come prior to this weekend’s staging of the event. He said that based on the feedback so far, a full field of golfers was expected on the course to compete for top honours and great prizes.
It will be a shotgun start at 9:00 am and will use the Stableford format. The competing categories are Men Under-50, Men Over-50, Ladies and Juniors. There will also be a category for corporate teams.
Celsa Nuño was the overall winner last year, Trevin Chin-Pin took the Men’s Under-50, Larry Lodenquai claimed the Men’s Over-50 title, while the junior category went to Russell Wilson-Spence
This year, part proceeds of the tournament will go towards the In The City Golf Junior Programme which is administered by the Jamaica Golf Association.
This year’s sponsors are Columbus Business Solutions, Rubis Energy, Supreme Ventures, UHY Dawgen Chartered Accountants, Toyota Jamaica, Best Dressed Chicken, Berger Paints and Power 106 FM.
