Scotiabank, Xerox lead KSA Business House football
FORMER champion Scotiabank Group shot to the top of the 2013 Western Sports-sponsored KSA Business House Football competition Division One points table after they defeated Caribbean Cement 3-0 at Bull Pen last Saturday to record their third straight win.
Scotiabank are now being coached by Neville ‘Bertis’ Bell in his first stint as a Business House coach. Donovan Hibbert scored his fourth goal in three matches in the 10th minute, while Jamoy Sibblies and Stefan Bartley got the other goals. They are on nine points, and are followed by defending champions Petrojam, who played to a 0-0 draw with Jamaica Customs and are second on seven points.
Gleaner Company clipped UWI 2-1 at Winchester Park to move into third position on six points from two games. Cavalier Premier League players Fabian Nethersole and Fabian Swaby scored both goals for the Gleaner, while Kenrick Brown got the consolation for UWI.
Norman Manley International Airport, National Water Commission and National Commercial Bank are all on four points from three matches, with promoted former champion GraceKennedy in seventh place on three points. NWC and NMIA played to a 0-0 draw in their last match, while NWC clipped Cement Company 1-0 with Gavin McKay scoring.
In Division Two, Xerox, who have played three matches, are leaders on seven points. They drew 0-0 with JUTC at Tinson Pen and are followed by first-time entrant Metrodade Protection and Security, who are on six points from two games.
Metrodade, who are coached by Calvert Fitzgerald, defeated Continental Baking Company 2-1 with Paul Francis and Cory Burke scoring, while Wayne Dixon scored the consolation.
Another first-time entrant, Pepsi-Cola Jamaica, are in third position also on six points, but they have played three matches. JUTC are in fourth position on five points from three games, while Red Stripe are in fifth place on four points.
The first round of the Scotiabank Group-sponsored knockout competition will start today with four matches. J Wray and Nephew will play Xerox at J Wray and Nephew (234 Spanish Town Road), NMIA play Jamaica Fire Brigade at Harbour View, Scotiabank Group play Pepsi-Cola Jamaica at Winchester Park, and NWC play GraceKennedy at NWC playing field, Mona. All matches start at 3:30 pm.
