5 steps to the perfect Smokey eyes
Backstage at Caribbean Fashion Week was buzzing with excitement as Pulse models got all ‘dolled up’ to walk the runway at one of the Caribbean’s hottest fashion events. Make-up artist Michelle Clarke gave Under the Dryer tips on how to get the classic smokey-eye look worn by the models. After a few simple steps you, too, will be able to rock your own runway.
Step 1: Choose a good concealer and apply over eyelids to create a smooth base for foundation.
Tip: It is good to choose a concealer one shade lighter than your skin tone to cover dark spots and blemishes.
What she recommends: MAC Studio Finish Concealer or any other MAC concealer.
Step 2: Use a pencil liner (black or brown) to trace your lashline — start from the inner line and work your way outward.
Step 3: Use a round-tip brush to apply eyeshadow (brown, black or any other colour that goes well with black) over eyelid and into crease.
Step 4: Use a lighter, neutral eyeshadow over the left side of your brow.
Tip: If you have small eyes use an intense colour such as gold or silver to enhance the look and to make your eyes pop.
Step 5: Finish with two coats of black mascara.
Brands she recommends: MAC, Mary Kay, Cover Girl, Maybelline and L’Oreal.
