Go Go Yvonne upsets at 23-1
Go Go Yvonne took advantage of the blistering early pace to tally a one half-length victory from off the pace for a 23-1 upset in the $886,500 Thoroughbred Racing Hall Of Fame Stakes Trophy feature at Caymanas Park yesterday.
Go Go Yvonne was ridden by Shamaree Muir for trainer Spencer Chung and is owned by Lakeland Farms Ltd and was timed at 1:12.3 for six furlongs. Potcheen, a 6-1 chance ridden by Omar Walker, was second. The 1-2 favourite Commander One, ridden by Dick Cardenas, finished third, a neck away with the 3-1 bet Palace Gold completing the frame under Paul Francis in the field of 11 after Sir Von was a late scratch.
Go Go Yvonne was winning for the seventh time from 21 career starts and earned $484,000 as the winner’s share for lifetime earnings of $3,768,250 lifetime.
Meanwhile, Omar Walker rode another double on the 11-race programme to share the spotlight with Shane Ellis and Richard Mitchell who also rode two winners. Walker won aboard Emergence in the first race for owner/trainer Rudolph Hardial and Judgement Yard in the ninth for trainer Edward Walker. Ellis had the leg up on Full Force in the second for trainer Gresford Smith and d Argument Done in the fourth for trainer Anthony Nunes. Mitchell, winners were Uppa Tune and Titanium King.
The next racing meeting, scheduled for Saturday, June 15, is Derby Day 2013.
