Ambassadors, Fogo advance to semis
MONTEGO BAY, St James — North Gully Ambassadors and Fogo United were confirmed as the semi-final qualifiers from Zone A in the St James Football Association Sandals/ATL Senior League without kicking a ball on Monday in their third round fixtures.
North Gully Ambassadors got full points from their unplayed game against Revelations FC, while Salt Spring’s 2-2 draw against Little Miami saw Fogo clinch the final spot with a game still to be played.
North Gully finished on 30 points after collecting six valuable points from their final two games, while Fogo’s 24 points could not be overhauled by any other teams in Zone A.
Despite the teams playing a cross-zone format in the third round, points earned in the original zone placings were used to determine the semi-finalists.
Montego Bay Boys’ Club, who hammered Violet Kickers 6-0 on Friday, finished with 34 points, the most by any team, while Little Miami finished their schedule with 30 points, both topping Zone B.
Salt Spring just missed a place after taking the lead twice, but had to settle for a point from their 2-2 draw against Little Miami at Westgreen.
Anthony Brown’s 27th minute goal gave Salt Spring the lead but Romario Morris equalised in the 31st minute. Kenyatta Hill then restored Salt Spring’s lead in the 68th minute only to see Cran Messado level the scores a minute later.
On Friday Shawayne Crawford scored twice, while Kalusha Kotes, Leroy Christie, Nicholas Brown and Glenroy Williams all contributed to Boys’ Club’s 6-0 win over a short-handed Violet Kickers, who started with seven players and added three more later in the first half.
Granville City secured a rare point after two goals from Shavar Raby earned them a 2-2 draw against Reggae Youths, who got goals from Leslie Foster and Rodaine Watkins.
