Livebroadkast lashes out at gov’t
REGGAE singer Livebroadkast is disturbed at how Jamaicans hard-earned tax dollars are spent by the respective governments over the years.
To this end, he has penned More Taxes (Empty Promises and Duppy Stories). The track was recently released on his Livebroadkast Music label and is available on iTunes.
“It’s always more taxes, more pressure and empty promises. They tax us, then waste it, then tell us stories,” he told Sunday Observer.
“I really and truly believe that Jamaicans have reached their taxable limit. It doesn’t matter whether you are PNP or JLP, you face the same taxes every day,” he continued.
He said if the taxes were used in an efficient manner several fundamental social issues would not even surface.
“Look at how they repair the roads. Within three to four months the roads are back to square one,” he said.
Last year Livebroadkast, whose real name is Canute Parks, teamed with a group whose mission was to get more traditional reggae played on local radio.
The Protest Now and Save Reggae group recorded Rescue Reggae From Freefall which featured several artistes.
“I don’t have time for gimmicks. When it comes to serious issues like people’s tax dollars being wasted, there is no joke about that. I am very passionate and serious about these things,” he said.
