Gage is seeing it
UP-AND-COMING recording artiste Gage is hoping to get his name etched among dancehall’s elites.
The singjay — managed by the Chris Gayle-owned Dutty Fridaze Promotion — recently released You Seet.
“Earlier this year, I got my break when I was introduced to Chris Gayle by his brother Van Clive and he (Gayle) instantly liked my style and decided to take me under his wings as manager,” he said.
You Seet lashes out at other artistes who give the business a bad name. He also lauds the foundation artistes who have kept the industry respectable.
“I strive to cultivate the highest level of music possible through my passion for positive messages. This is a tool for reaching people and taking them to a place of consciousness,” said the 22-year-old.
Gage, whose real name is Ryan Douglas, said is critical of the lacklustre productions being aired.
“Although there are lots of talented acts out there, there are some productions that are extremely poor. The artistes have a lot to do in that regard,” he said.
Gage said he is not aversed to singing about life’s enjoyment.
“But there are other social issues that needs to be addressed. Our children are being raped and murdered, the economy is sliding,” said the past student of Denbigh High School in Clarendon.
A former competitor in talent show Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall, Gage’s other tracks includes Boom Boom and In De Clean.
