Jamalco on top in Berger Paints Super League netball
DEFENDING champions Jamalco completed their preliminary round with a 42-32 win over Waulgrovians ‘A’ to finish on top in the 2013 Berger Paints/Jamaica Netball Association (JNA) Super League competition being played at the Leila Robinson Courts.
The many-time defending champions Jamalco finished their round of matches with maximum 21 points from seven games to be the only unbeaten team in the Super League.
Tivoli ‘A’, who lost their lone game against Jamalco, finished second on 18 points, followed by UWI Pelicans ‘A’, and Mico ‘A’ on 12 points, Waulgrovians ‘A’ and GC Foster Strikers ‘A’ on 6, Cable Pro on three, and Global United ‘A’ with one point.
The semi-finals are scheduled for next Tuesday with Jamalco going up against Mico ‘A’ and Tivoli ‘A’ facing UWI Pelicans ‘A’, starting at 5:45 pm.
Jamalco in their game with Waulgrovians, led in all quarters, 11-6, 20-17, and 34-23, with Elaine Davis scoring 32 goals from 42 attempts, while, Khadijah Williams scored 20 goals from 27 attempts and Nardia Hanson with 12 goals from 19 efforts.
Tivoli ‘A’ ended their fixtures with a 44-40 win over UWI Pelicans ‘A’.
In a game played last Tuesday, Mico ‘A’ defeated Cable Pro 43-33.
The preliminary round of the Berger Super League ends today with GC Foster Strikers ‘A’ playing Global United ‘A’, beginning at 6:00 pm.
Meanwhile, action in the Best Dressed Intermediate League is scheduled to begin today at 1:00 pm with Boulevard Baptist vs SKIBO ‘A’; Ebony Strikers ‘B’ vs Maverley; Hampshire ‘A’ vs Mico ‘B’; Jobs Lane United ‘B’ vs Hellshire United.
