Granville Jaguars regain lead in Flow NBL
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Granville Jaguars rebounded from their first loss in the regular season in over two years to beat promoted MoBay Cricket Club Knights 84-72 in their Flow National Basketball League-West game at the Montego Bay Cricket Club on Tuesday.
Leroy Lawrence’s game-high 28 points and 19 rebounds powered Granville to their seventh win of the season as they regained the lead from Hoopers, 13 to 12 points, as Lucea Flames also snapped a losing skid, beating winless Railway Lane Tigers 69-52 in the first game of the double-header.
Meanwhile, both games scheduled for Wednesday were postponed for a second time due to rain that affected western Jamaica.
On Tuesday, Knights played well in patches but had a disastrous second quarter where they scored a mere five points, and despite outscoring Granville 48-47 in the second half, fell by 12 points.
Knights led 19-17 after the first quarter, but were outscored 20-5 in the second quarter and trailed 24-37 at half-time.
