VMBS U13 semi-finalists to be decided today
MONTEGO BAY, St James — The stage is interestingly poised for the last two semi-finalists to be decided in the St James Football Association VMBS Under-13 competition as the quarter-finals come to a close today with a double header here at the UDC field in Montego Bay.
Four schools are vying for the two available places, as they seek to join Granville All-Age, who booked their place yesterday, and Anchovy Primary.
In today’s games the teams are tied up in all statistical categories, and according to league coordinator Hopeton Gilchrist, both games will be play to finish, as a winner must be decided for next week’s semi-finals.
Additionally, today’s winners will meet in one semi-final, while Granville and Anchovy will meet in the other set for Wednesday and Thursday.
In Group Two, former champions Corinaldi Avenue Primary and Howard Cooke will meet, and both are on three points from one game after beating Barracks Road Primary 3-0.
All four games played in Group Four so far ended in 0-0 scorelines and Cambridge Primary and St James Prep are both on one point, behind Supreme Prep, who drew both games and are out of contention as today’s winner will improve to four points.
Meanwhile, another former champions Granville All-Age booked their semi-final spot after scoring a 1-0 win over Success Primary in their Group Three quarter-final game at the UDC field yesterday.
Tavin Shaw’s first-half goal gave Granville their second win in the quarter-final group, and they now advance to meet Anchovy Primary, who had topped Group One last week.
In a game of academic interest yesterday, Mt Salem beat Chetwood 2-0 with goals from Salana Birch and Santino Barracks.
