Rebirth wins Talent Rush
FRANKLIN Town-based dance group Rebirth were the winners of the inaugural staging of Talent Rush held at the Scout’s headquarters on Camp Road in St Andrew recently.
The four-member group took home the Burger King trophy and a cash prize of $20,000.
Event conceptualiser Dawodi Simpson of East Kingston said the event — sponsored by Burger King — was to provide an opportunity to unearth new talent.
“It was opened to talent from anywhere in the Corporate Area but, as we expected most of the talent came from the immediate communities like Vineyard and Franklin Town and as far away as Spanish Town,” Simpson said.
“We had a good turn. There were a lot of talents and very good performances.”
Simpson said he intends to put on a fashion show which could assist in financing a back-to-school programme for his community.
Other outstanding acts on the evening were all-girl dance group TNS Clique from Spanish Town, which finished second; and Marley B, a singjay from Manley Meadows, who finished third.
