‘Soundbox’ booms this Wednesday
VETERAN music producer Winston ‘Niney’ Holness launches his Observer Soundbox Studio on Wednesday.
Located at Lyndhurst Road in Kingston, the studio has been in operation since March with several auditions for singers.
“At that time (Wednesday) we will be presenting the new talents that we have selected,” said Bridgette Anderson, publicist for Observer Soundbox.
Following two months of auditions the artistes selected for recording are Malakiyah, Iyashine and Somay. They are scheduled to perform at the launch.
According to Anderson, seven tracks have been recorded in live sessions conducted by bassist Errol ‘Flabba’ Holt of the Roots Radics Band.
Holness was one of the top reggae producers in the 1970s. His hit songs include Ken Boothe’s Silver Words and Westbound Train by Dennis Brown.
