Brazil to deliver last stadium ahead of Confed Cup
SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) — Brazil is set to deliver the last stadium for the Confederations Cup just a few weeks before the World Cup warm-up tournament.
Concerns with the country’s preparedness, however, are far from over.
The stadium which will host the opener in Brasilia on June 15 is finally completed and will be officially inaugurated today, giving FIFA and local organisers the last of the six venues for the tournament among continental champions.
But the Confederations Cup will start under less-than-perfect conditions. Infrastructure work is not finalised in nearly all of the venues and the majority of the stadiums will not go through the ideal number of test events in time for the tournament.
