Vintage on the Greens for May 25
MONTEGO BAY, St James — The Kiwanis Club of Montego Freeport is partnering with the Whitter Group to host Vintage on the Greens which will feature rocksteady heavyweight Leroy Sibble at the Ironshore Golf and Country Club on Saturday, May 25 .
The event is the Kiwanis Club’s annual fundraiser. Part proceeds will go towards the Cornwall Regional Hospital renal department.
A portion of the receipts will also go towards the West Haven Children’s Home.
At the recent launch held at Whitter Village in Ironshore, Anthony Cameron, the Kiwanis club’s public relations committee chair, promised this year’s event will be an improvement over previous stagings.
“For 27 or so years, we have been having oldies (events). Over the last two years, we have decided to step it up a notch. Last year we had Silver Vintage this year we have decided to come bigger and better and we are happy to be partnering with Whitter Group who has kindly consented for us to use their facility,” Cameron said.
“This year, we are also coming out of our comfort zone. Traditionally we would give to children but this year we will give giving part proceeds to the renal dialysis at the Cornwall Regional Hospital. That affect not only children but that affects everybody.”
Headliner Leroy Sibbles is renowned as the lead singer of the rock steady group, The Heptones. His group’s hits include Party Time, Fatty Fatty, Book Of Rules, Baby Be True and Gonna Fight.
Rising Star winner Shuga gave an entertaining but short performance during the launch.
