Exciting times!
MONTEGO BAY, St James — North Gully Ambassadors or Little Miami could strengthen their claim for a place in the semi-finals of the St James Football Association’s Sandals/ATL Group Senior League when they meet in the second game of a triple-header at Jarrett Park tomorrow, set to start at 5:00 pm.
The two are among five teams with a chance to join early qualifiers Montego Bay Boys Club who secured their place on Tuesday, after contenders Fogo United and Reggae Youths played out a 2-2 draw in their third round game at Flanker.
Boys Club leads the league with 28 points with three games to be played, and can only be passed by North Gully and Little Miami, if either win all their remaining matches.
North Gully with three games to go and Fogo United with one game left on their schedule, are both on 24 points, one more than Little Miami who have three games to play. Reggae Youths are on 21 points with two games to go, while long shots Montego Bay United Under-21 and Violet Kickers are on 20 points, with two games to go, and have secured their places in the league for next season.
In the first game tomorrow, Salt Spring United could secure their place for next year with a win over last placed and relegation bound Rosemount Gardens, while at 7:00 pm Boys Club and Granville City will meet.
In the featured game, both teams are coming off good wins last week, but Little Miami, finalists in the previous two seasons, have scored nine times in their last two games and are in good form.
North Gully’s 3-0 win over Rosemount last Friday was their first win in three games.
On Tuesday, Fogo missed the chance to secure second place by themselves as Reggae Youths came from behind twice to earn a 2-2 draw.
At Sam Sharpe Teacher’s College, Violet Kickers edged Revelations 2-1 with goals from Gavin Williams in the 7th minute and Dalton Brissett in the 36th before Omar Tummings pulled one back for Revelations in the 66th minute.
In another game played at the UDC field, Melbourne FC won back-to-back games for the first time this season when they edged Montego Bay United Under 21 1-0, thanks to a 90th minute goal from Trevan Allen.
