Country comes to town
THE Culture Yard in Trench Town was abuzz with excitement yesterday as Ky-Mani Marley and American country music star Big Kenny shot scenes for their upcoming music video, Hope Chance.
The song is written by self-described music lover Ky-Mani, who says country music is just one of many genres he enjoys.
Marley told the Jamaica Observer that the opportunity to record with Big Kenny came through their management.
Once the formalities were settled, he says he visited the singer at his home in Nashville, Tennessee to vibe on Hope Chance.
The song, which Marley describes as electro-country, was officially released yesterday. Its video, directed by Mykal Cushnie, is scheduled to premiere in a few weeks.
The 37-year-old Ky-Mani is the son of reggae legend
Bob Marley. He recently launched his record label, Konfrontation Muzik.
He says having his own label will enable him to “reach out and help open some doors for new talent”.
The Culture Yard is located near the community of Rema where Bob Marley lived for several years. The former tenement inspired some of his most famous songs such as No Woman No Cry.
