Duanvale hold advantage in TFA Major League
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — Duanvale FC will be seeking their first Trelawny Football Association Monymusk White Overproof Rums Major League title since the 2006-07 season when they take a 2-0 lead into today’s return-leg final against Spicy Hill at the Elliston Wakeland Centre, set to start at 3:00 pm.
Duanvale FC, who finished fourth after the regular season before upsetting Classic United in the semi-finals, won last week’s first leg and must avoid a complete meltdown today if they are to win and qualify for next season’s Western Confederation Super League.
In the first game set to start at 1:00 pm, All-Stars Sports and Youth Club have a similar 2-0 lead over mid-season champions Salt Marsh United.
It was a big upset for All-Stars, who finished second overall to Salt Marsh after losing to them twice in the regular season 2-0 and 2-1.
Both teams have already earned promotion to the Major League next season.
Spicy Hill should not be counted out in the Major League game, however, as they had beaten Duanvale FC in their third-round game and will have the dangerous Damin Williams, who scored 13 goals in the regular season, but missed the first leg after being red-carded in the second leg of the semi-finals.
Former national striker Fabian Dawkins will team with Williams in what should be a potent strike force, while Orlando Grey, Oshane Brown and Ernesto Barrett are expected to lead the Duanvale attack.
