Bramma releases Bad Gorilla
BAD Gorilla is the recently released 27-track mixtape from dancehall artiste Bramma.
He said he was strategic in opting for a mixtape instead of an album as a means getting the music to the streets.
“Artistes usually opt to do mixtapes as it helps them in the streets as they usually carry songs that cannot be aired on the radio. So sound systems and clubs, along with other fans, are the ones that play them,” said Bramma, who grew up in Maxfield Gardens, one of the city’s tough neighbourhoods.
Done on the Chinese Assassin label, the tracks include Haters Warning, a collab with Bounty Killer and Chino McGregor, Gorilla Dreadlocks Rasta, Trust People, It, and Pressure Dem.
“I worked real hard on this project and I also did numerous promotions — both locally and internationally — therefore, I have a good feeling that this is going to do well,” he said.
Bramma, whose given name is Lloyd Brammer, said he intends making several music videos to accompany his tracks.
The former Calabar High student said he does not subscribe to the notion that dancehall music is on the decline.
“There is still hope for dancehall music. Like most things the music isn’t perfect, but it is just for some recording artistes to look into the right places and bring across some positive messages,” he said.
