Queens blank Emmanuel in TT league
In a clash of two newcomers in the JTTA Prep Schools Table Tennis League, hosts Queens blanked Emmanuel 5-0 as the competition continued on Tuesday.
In individual results, Gordon Smith trounced Alexander Hay 3-0, Jordan Newman overpowered Brandon Gordon 3-0, Sheirma Pierre-Bott eased past Leah Lopez 3-0, Johnathan Newman (Jordan’s twin brother) outplayed Johnathan Thompson 3-1 and Darren Dyer got by Kimani Cowen 3-1, for Queen’s 5-0 victory.
This match completed the first half of the competition in Group Three, with return matches to start when the competition continues.
At this stage, former many-time champion Sts Peter & Paul lead the standings with maximum six points, ahead of Hillel on five points, Queens four and Emmanuel on three. The top-two finishers from this group, along with the top-two finishers from Groups One and Two, will advance to the next stage of the competition, which is the semi-final round.
