Boys’ Club inch closer to semis
MONTEGO BAY, St, James — Montego Bay Boys Club inched closer to a place in the semi-finals of the St James Football Association Sandals/ATL Group Senior League after a 1-1 draw with Fogo United at Flanker on Tuesday.
Glenroy Williams’ 20th-minute goal equalised Alme McFarlane’s 15th-minute effort as the teams shared points which saw Boys’ Club inch ahead to 28 points, five more than second-placed Fogo United who have played 14 games, one more than Boys’ Club.
Salt Spring United scored a well-needed victory, coming from behind to beat Reggae Youths 2-1 at Irwin High, while Montego Bay United Under-21 came from 2-0 down with 12 minutes to go to draw 2-2 with Violet Kickers at the UDC Field.
At Irwin, Jerome Haughton’s 33rd-minute goal had given Reggae Youths the lead at half-time, but Anthony Brown scored twice in the second half — in the 74th and 87th minutes — to hand Salt Spring United their fourth win which carried them to 16 points from 12 games.
The loss kept Reggae Youths on 20 points tied with Montego Bay United’s Under-21 and Little Miami.
Violet Kickers looked well on their way to a victory at the UDC field after goals from Andrew Walker in the 32nd minute and Dalton Brissett in the 66th staked them to a good lead over Montego Bay United’s Under-21 team.
Akheem McCarthy pulled one back for MBU Under-21 in the 78th minute before Donovan Carey scored the equaliser in the 87th minute.
