Sts Peter & Paul, Wolmer’s win in prep TT
Former many-time champions Sts Peter & Paul defeated Hillel Two team 4-1 and Wolmer’s beat Holy Childhood by a similar 4-1 score, in two prep school matches played Friday, as the JTTA Prep School Table Tennis League continued.
Wolmer’s are coached by Clive Grossett and Raymond Leveridge, Holy Childhood by Konata Beluchi, Sts Peter & Paul by Rohan Schloss, and Hillel by Peter Daley.
The Wolmer’s/Holy Childhood match was a Group Two contest and after Friday’s result Portmore Missionary One remain atop the standing with maximum four points. They are followed by Wolmer’s and Sts Peter & Paul on three points each, and St Andrew on one point.
The Sts Peter & Paul versus Hillel Two clash was a Group Three encounter and the win takes Sts Peter & Paul to the top of the standing with maximum six points. They are followed by Hillel Two on five points, and Queen’s and Emmanuel on two points apiece.
The top two finishers from these two groups, and Group One, will advance to the next stage of the competition.
In individual results in the Wolmer’s/Holy Childhood duel — Kamal McMillan, Russell Willie, Michael McLeod and Johnathan Scott all scored easy 3-0 victories over Jason White, Dejean Whyte, Dujon Jackson and Darrel Creary, respectively, for Wolmer’s four triumphs. Krystina Davidson overpowered Danielle Johnson 3-0 in the girls’ match to pull one back for Holy Childhood.
In the Sts Peter & Paul 4-1 win over Hillel Two, Alessio Tulloch crushed Dan Barnett 3-0, Juilan Newnham trounced Joshua Dixon 3-0, Zane Walters strolled past Brandon Lue 3-0, and Fiona Li outlasted Kailen-Jade Wiggon 3-2, for Sts Peter & Paul’s four victories. Dane Aiken outscored Nathan Chin 3-1 to pull one back for Hillel Two.
The competition continues on Tuesday at 2:30 pm when three more matches will be played.
