Miller sets the stage for Bob
BOB Marley’s former stage manager Mark Miller has finally released his book, A White Knight in Babylon, On the Road with Bob Marley, in English.
The book was first released in French in 2008. A German edition appeared four years later.
Miller, a 60-year-old American, told the Jamaica Observer his reason for releasing the 220-page book in English.
“I kept the story to myself for over 30 years, and finally, after being pushed by my family and friends to do it, I wrote the book,” he said. “This coming July 14th, it is 36 years to the day of the very first show I did with Bob Marley and The Wailers.”
The latest edition of A White Knight in Babylon, On the Road with Bob Marley is available through the www.reggaefestivalguide.com website.
Miller says he recently signed a publishing agreement with “a large company, and the English version is being revised, edited differently and proofed now. It will be available shortly in the retail consumer environments”.
In a 2001 interview, Miller said he first worked for Marley and his band in Vancouver, Canada, in 1978 during their Babylon By Bus tour.
Prior to that, he worked for a musical equipment hire firm called Studio Instrument Rentals in Los Angeles.
He stayed with the band until September, 1980 when Marley became ill and cancelled his United States tour. Marley died in May the following year from cancer at age 36.
