Six juniors selected for Caribbean Golf Champs
Following on the National Junior Golf Trials at the Caymanas Golf & Country Club, the Selection Committee of the Jamaica Golf Association has given the nod six players so far to be a part of the 2013 junior golf team to the Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championships July 1-6 in the Cayman Islands.
In the Under-13 boys, rising star Justin Burrowes who finished first in the Trials and has been selected, along with Montego Bay-based Sebert Walker Jnr, who finished second. Luke Chin is the team reserve.
In the Under-15 boys category, Sandals-based Romaine Evans ended the three-day Trials in first position, but no selection has been made in the Under-17 boys category as yet.
In female Under-13 qualification, Tiana Cruz ended the Trials one shot ahead of Kei Harris and both girls have been selected to represent Jamaica in the Under-13 group. No golfers have been named in the girls Under-15 and Under-17 categories.
Additional selections to the team to the 2013 Junior Championships are expected to be made by the Selection Committee.
