Girlz fund-raiser kicks off with Strikers game
FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida — The Jamaica International Female Football Development Inc (JIFFD) will host its first fundraising event in conjunction with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers surrounding their game today against Tampa Bay Rowdies at Lockhart Stadium at 7:30 pm (6:30 pm Jamaica time).
One lucky patron, who buys tickets for the game from a JIFFD representative or JIFFD partner outlet, will win an airline ticket to Jamaica and two VIP tickets to see the Reggae Boyz play against Mexico on June 4 and against the USA on June 7 at the National Stadium in Kingston.
JIFFD is asking for full support from the Jamaican community at home and in the Diaspora for Jamaica’s cash-strapped women’s football programme as both the U-20 and U-17 teams are preparing for the CFU Championship in July and August.
The CFU competitions will serve as qualifiers for the CONCACAF Championships, with Jamaica set to host the Under-17 version and Cayman the Under-20 tournament.
Fifty per cent of the proceeds from tickets sold through JIFFD will specifically assist the Reggae Girlz.
Tickets are Available at Donnas Restaurant (Lauderhill & Pembroke Pines) or online at www.JIFFD.org.
A tailgate party Caribbean style with DJ Fergie and Springer of Power 96 will form part of the day’s activities.
JIFFD Inc is a foundation set up in Florida to assist Jamaica’s national women’s football programme, and parallel to its fundraising function, it also focuses on the holistic development of girls and young women, aged between six and 24.
Fort Lauderdale Striker is the club of Reggae Boy defender Shavar Thomas.
