Trelawny finalists to be decided weekend
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — THE finalists in the Trelawny Football Association’s Monymusk White Overproof Rums Major League and Division one competitions will be decided in this weekend’s return leg semi-finals at the Elliston Wakeland centre.
Duanvale FC are surprising leaders in their Major League semi-finals against Classic United while mid-season champions Prospect Link have a one goal edge on Spicy Hill after games on Sunday.
A day earlier in the Division One semi-finals, Bacca Stars came from three goals down to earn a 3-3 draw against All-Stars while Salt Marsh United edged Upsetters 1-0.
On Saturday, Bacca Stars and All-Stars will meet in the first game starting at 1:30-pm before Upsetters and Salt Marsh meet in the second game in the Division One. On Sunday Duanvale will meet Classic in the first game followed by Spicy Hill and Prospect Links.
Despite snatching the last place in the semi-finals, Duanvale FC proved their 3-0 win over Classic United the last time they met was no fluke by defeating them again with their 2-0 win on Sunday.
Duanvale who finished the game with 10 players after Dinval Wallace was sent off for serious foul play, got goals from Oshane Brown in the 19th and 52nd minutes.
Classic United had topped the points’ table with 29 points and led Prospect Links on goal difference.
Prospect Links stayed on course for the double as they edged ten-man Spicy Hill 2-1.
Tino Evans opened the scoring in the 20th minute for a half time 1-0 lead but Fabian Dawkins equalised for Spicy Hill in the 64th minute.
Renaldo Scott then scored in the 78th minute for the winner as Spicy Hill’s Nathaniel Campbell was sent off after picking up his second yellow card.
In the Division One competition, Bacca Stars staged an epic come back from three goals down with 25 minutes to go against All-Stars, storming back with goals from Kevin Hibbert in the 74th minute, Karlton Drake in the 76th and Keith Hamilton in the 80th minute.
Earlier All-Stars had taken what looked to be a commanding lead through Nicholi Galloway in the 24th minute, Sanjay Duffus in the 58th and Jamari Galloway in the 65th minute.
In the other semi-final, Dewey Stewart’s 80th minute goal made the difference in their game against Upsetters.
Each team finished with 10 players as Nickoy Edwards of Salt Marsh and Nelson Adams of Upsetters were sent off.
