Toots reaches out
REGGAE great Toots Hibbert has donated US$5,000 to the Vincent HoSang Family Foundation (VHFF), a non-profit organisation that helps persons in need. Hibbert made the donation on April 17 during a press conference at the Jamaican Consulate in Manhattan, New York where the annual Groovin’ In The Park concert was also officially launched.
HoSang, founder and CEO of New York company Caribbean Food Delights, says the funds will be used to purchase two linear accelerators (apparatus to treat cancers) for the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay and an undetermined facility in Kingston.
Executive producer for Groovin’ In The Park, Chris Roberts, says part proceeds from this year’s concert will also benefit the VHFF.
Toots and The Maytals are headliners for Groovin’ In The Park which takes place at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens, New York on June 30.
