Stars line up for curry festival
SAVANNA-LA-MAR, Westmoreland — Veteran Montego Bay based reggae artiste Roland Burrell and budding female singer Vibes Queen are the latest additions to an impressive line-up of acts booked for the live entertainment segment of the 13th staging of the Mannings School Alumni and Westmoreland Curry Festival at Mannings School on Sunday, April 28.
Both artistes are expected to perform individually. However, they will also blend their voices in performing their recently released single, Love Treat, which has been enjoying heavy rotation on the airwaves in western Jamaica .
Burrell is known for songs such as Johnny Dollar, Stormy Night, Rip Off and his rendition of Freddy McKay’s Picture on the Wall.
The 34-year-old Hanover-based Vibes Queen, formerly known as Pepper Seed, is on the brink of carving out a niche for herself in the music industry.
The show is expected to be highlighted by self-proclaimed King of the Dancehall, Beenie Man who is renowned for hits such as Girls Dem Sugar, Dweet Again, Let’s Go, Street Life, Who Am I, Feel it Boy — a duet with Janet Jackson – and King of the Dancehall.
Others expected to join the dancehall kigpin in the Reggae Show Time section of the event are female acts Spice, Tifa and Baby Tash.
Seasoned acts Ken Boothe, Ernie Smith and Lovindeer will perform during the Vintage Reggae segment of the show. The live entertainment line-up will be rounded off by gospel artiste Lawayne McLean.
The show, which will be emceed by Richie B, will also highlight the crowning of Miss Curry Festival Queen.
Another feature of the day’s event will be the wide range of curry dishes expected to be on display during the family event.
WISYNCO, through its brand Bigga, will partner with Mannings School Alumni and the Westmoreland Curry Festival, in staging the event.
The event will be officially opened by Roger Clarke, Member of Parliament for Central Westmoreland.
