Reggae Youths continue climb in St James Senior League
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Reggae Youths continued their upward movement in the St James Football Association Sandals/ATL Group Senior League after beating North Gully Ambassadors 3-1 at Jarrett Park Friday night.
The promoted Reggae Youths, who got to the final of the Captain’s Bakery and Grill Knockout before being beaten by Premier League club Montego Bay United, got off to a slow start in the Senior League, but have won three of their last four games to climb into fifth place on 17 points, same as sixth-placed Little Miami.
Meanwhile, North Gully Ambassadors have lost two games in a row and are in second place on 20 points, failing to make up any ground on leaders Montego Bay Boys Club, who are on 24 points.
Kasif Brown fired Reggae Youths into the lead in the fourth minute, but Dwayne Powell equalised for North Gully, as the teams went into the break locked at 1-1.
It was all Reggae Youths in the second half, however, scoring two goals through Aldino Hart in the 65th minute, and Jerome Haughton in the 69th to secure the points.
Montego Bay United Under-21 edged into fourth place on 18 points after a goalless draw with Salt Spring, also at Jarrett Park, while Revelation FC were 3-0 winners over Granville City for their second victory of the season.
It was a different-looking Granville United from the one that beat North Gully Ambassadors the week before, as Revelations led at half-time through Sebastian Robinson, who had two goals.
Kevin Wilson doubled the lead midway the second half before Robinson put the game away with about 10 minutes to go.
The win saw Revelation exchange places with Granville City in the relegation zone, both on nine points. Revelation have the better goal difference, however.
