NBA iLIKES – April 23
HERE are our top picks from a week that spanned the final day of the 2013 regular season and the beginning of the post-season.
5 – Ace shooter Steph Curry streaked his way into the NBA record books by making 272 three-pointers this season. This usurped the previous best of 269 by the all-time leading three-point maker Ray Allen. Can Steph go for that record as well?
4 – Most NBA fans would agree that when it relates to a defensive presence in the paint, Andrew Bogut of the Golden State Warriors is one of the league’s best. Unfortunately, this reputation could not hold up as Javale McGee of the Denver Nuggets posterised him with a massive one-handed dunk towards the end of the second quarter last Saturday.
3 – With the final play-off spot on the line, and a missing Kobe Bryant from the line-up, Pau Gasol delivered back-to-back triple-double performances over the San Antonio Spurs and the Houston Rockets to guide the Los Angeles Lakers into the 2013 NBA Play-offs.
2 – Paul George highlighted his ‘coming of age’ with a triple-double that comprised 23 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists. However, the play-offs end for him, this will certainly go down as his best season since joining the league.
1 – Andre Miller, known predominantly for his passing abilities, delivered a game-winning performance as his Denver Nuggets got by the Golden State Warriors in the first game of their play-off match-up. He literally took the team through on his back, scoring 18 points in the fourth quarter including the match-winning lay-up with 1.3 seconds left on the game clock.
