Trinidad end South African tour on a high
SINOVILLE, South Africa (CMC) — Trinidad and Tobago’s women cricketers condemned Highveld province to heavy defeats in back-to back T20 matches on Wednesday to climax a successful tour of South Africa.
Trinidad registered a convincing six-wicket win over Highveld in the first match and later whipped their opponents by 92 runs in the curtain closer.
Spinner Gaitri Seetahal and Samantha Bisson and pacers Britney Cooper and Lee-Ann Kirby shared six wickets, as the visitors reduced Highveld to 63 for seven in their 20 overs.
Seetahal and Cooper grabbed two wickets each, while Kirby and Bissoon had one each.
The Trinidadians lost early wickets when their lower order was given first knock, but successfully chased their target, reaching 64 for the loss of four wickets.
In the second contest, half-centuries from Kirby and Stacy-Ann King lifted Trinidad to a competitive 175 for five.
Kirby top scored with 56, King 54, with contributions of 25 and 20 from Seetahal and Cooper, respectively.
The home team struggled to 83 for seven with Cooper taking two wickets to lead the bowling.
T&T rested captain Merissa Aguilleira for the day and were led by vice-captain Shenelle Lord.
