MoBay Boys Club out front is St James Senior league
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Montego Bay Boys Club are the overall leaders of the St James Football Association’s Sandals/ATL Senior league, after drawing 1-1 with Melbourne United as the third round kicked off on Tuesday.
The point moved Boys Club’s tally to 24 from 11 games, four more than North Gully Ambassadors, as the third round is being played on a cross-zone format, and all 12 teams will play each other once, and the zone format used in the previous two rounds will be abandoned.
The top four teams on points irrespective of zones after the third round, will then advance to the semi-finals.
On Tuesday, Fabian Gifford scored in the 64th minute for Boys Club to come from a goal down to earn a point against Melbourne FC at the UDC field, after Trevan Allen had given them the lead in the 25th minute.
At Flanker, the home team also came from a goal down to draw with Little Miami FC to take hold of third place on 18 points, one more than Little Miami and Montego Bay United Under 21, both on 17 points.
Androckle Poyser scored his league leading eighth goal of the season in the seventh minute to give Little Miami the lead, before Dwayne Miller scored in the 38th minute to share the points.
Violet Kickers picked up six points in their last two games, three coming from their unplayed game against Rosemount Gardens, who failed to show up for their game at Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College.
Violet Kickers had beaten Fogo United 2-1 in a rescheduled second round game on Saturday, and are in sixth place on 16 points.
Three games will be played tomorrow at Jarrett Park, Granville City and Revelations will face of in the first game set to start at 3:00pm, followed by Montego Bay United Under 21 and Salt Spring United, with Reggae Youths and North Gully Ambassadors playing in the 7:00pm feature.
