Duanvale sneak into Trelawny FA League semis
DUANVALE, Trelawny — Duanvale FC staged a last-day coupe to snatch one of the four semi-final places in the Trelawny Football Association Monymusk White Overproof Rums Major League, edging out Exidos So Fresh and Flames FC as the preliminary rounds ended last Saturday.
Duanvale FC went into the final set of games in fifth place on 23 points, one behind Flames, and defeated Clarks Town 1-0, while Flames went down by the same margin to Spicy Hill at home.
Classic United and Prospect Links topped the standing with 29 points after wins over Jackson Town and Invaders, respectively, while Spicy Hill were third with 28 points, two more than Duanvale, who edged Exidos So fresh by a point for the final spot.
The semi-finals are set for April 20 and 27.
On Saturday, Orlando Grey scored in the 39th minute for Duanvale as they surged to a win that vaulted them into the final four, as Spicy Hill held on to their place with a 1-0 win over Flames.
Damaine Williams scored his 13th goal of the season for Spicy Hill.
Tamaro Williams scored a double for Classic United, as they held on for the top spot, edging Prospect Links on goal difference.
Vandel Galloway gave Classic a first-half lead, scoring in the 28th minute; Wayne Shaw doubled the lead in the 46th minute before Galloway put the game out of reach with goals in the 57th and 65th minutes.
Dobby Little also scored a double to lead Prospect Links to a 5-1 come-from-behind win over Invaders at Samuel Prospect field. Oshane Smith scored in the 37th minute to level the scores after Akeem Anderson had given Invaders the lead in the 23rd minute.
Little then gave Prospect Links the lead in the 57th minute, while Tino Evans increased the margin two minutes later.
Little completed his brace in the 75th minute, while Dwayne Duncan added a fifth in the 78th minute.
In another game, Exidos So Fresh blanked Coopers Pen 4-0, thanks to a double from Marlon Henry in the sixth and 44th minutes, an own goal in the 63rd minute, and Husana Johnson in the 77th minute.
