Buff Bay march into Major League semis
PASSLEY GARDENS, Portland — Buff Bay United with two goals from Fenton Gilbert whipped Norwich 5-1 to secure their semi-final spot in the Portland Western Union Major League on Sunday at the College of Agriculture, Science and Education west campus field.
The goals were scored by Buff Bay’s Fenton Gilbert (58th, 66th), Milton Morgan (seventh), Jason Tracey (64th) and Kevin Gray (74th), while Leroy Dixon got the consolation for Norwich in the 82nd minute.
Buff Bay started out attacking and it came as no surprise when they took the lead seven minutes into the game through Morgan.
Like they did in the first half, Buff Bay maintained their dominance in the second with four follow-up goals to complete the win.
Even as they were being outclassed, Norwich never played dead and tried to get back into the game through Leroy Dixon and Demoy Orgill, but their efforts left a lot to be desired.
The final set of preliminary games will be today when second-place Eagle Strikers host leaders St George’s at Carder Park, and Hope Bay host Snow Hill at Canewood.
The semi-finals will start on Saturday when Boundbrook United host St George’s at Boundbrook Pavilion, and on Sunday Buff Bay face Eagle Strikers at Lynch Park.
