Vinyl collectors honour Barnett
Michael Barnett will be honoured at the annual Vinyl Record Collectors Association (VRCA) Memorial Weekend Celebration, scheduled for The Occasions Event Centre in Atlanta, Georgia, from May 24-26.
Barnett, who has promoted popular ‘oldies’ events such as Heineken Startime, hosts the Vintage Vibes show on the Kool FM radio station.
He said he is humbled by the VRCA honour.
“I feel gratified to be recognised publicly and during my lifetime,” he said.
The VRCA is an organisation of lifetime vinyl record collectors founded by Jamaican Michael Neysmith in 1998 in Philadelphia.
it has chapters in Philadelphia, New York, Florida, Atlanta, Toronto and Jamaica.
The organisation’s objectives include promotion and preservation of music on vinyl and recognition of vinyl collectors and music historians.
