Boys’ Club extend lead in Sandals/ATL Senior League
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Montego Bay Boys’ Club extended their lead in Zone B of the St James Football Association Sandals/ATL Senior League while Granville City upset North Gully Ambassadors on Friday at Jarrett Park as the return-round nears its end.
The third round that will be played on a cross-zone format is set to start this week with the completion of two rescheduled games on Saturday.
Boys’ Club edged Revelations 1-0 in the second game of Friday’s triple header, thanks to a 41st-minute goal from Nicholas Brown, and moved to 23 points from 10 games, six more than second-placed Montego Bay United Under-21 who were beaten
3-0 by Little Miami in the first game.
Androckle Poyser scored twice within four minutes midway the second half and Vernon Stewart scored a third in the 90th minute for Little Miami, who closed the gap on second-placed Montego Bay United to one point.
Poyser scored in the 54th and 58th minutes to take his league-leading tally to seven goals as MBU Under-21 lost for the third time in their 10 games.
In the feature game, Granville City won for the second time, edging Zone A leaders North Gully Ambassadors 1-0, with Shavon Rabi scoring in the 22nd minute.
The win pulled Granville City to nine points, same as Melbourne United, well behind North Gully who lead with 20 points, three more than Fogo United, who have a game in hand against Violet Kickers.
