Granville, Holland in battle for last semi-final place
GRANVILLE, St James — Granville United of St James and Holland United of Trelawny are in a near dead heat for the final semi-final place in the Jamaica Football Federation Captain’s Bakery and Grill Western Confederation Super League, as the preliminary rounds come to an end today with five third-round, cross-zone games scheduled to be played.
All games are set to start at 3:30 pm.
Granville United are in fourth place on 23 points and need only a win against relegated Petersfield FC at home at the Sam Sharpe Teachers College grounds.
Holland United are a point behind in fifth place and will be home at the Elliston Wakeland Centre to Catherine Hall, who are trying to avoid relegation.
Tomorrow’s People, who completed their schedule with 35 points; Reno, who will be away to Harmony at Bounty Hall and are on 33 points, and Wadadah FC, on 30 points, and who will face Norwood Strikers at the UDC, have all booked their places in the semi-finals already.
Five teams will be relegated, the four automatic places to make way for the four parish champions that will be promoted, as well as Red Stripe Premier League club Savannah who will also return to the Super League after just one season.
Games today: Holland United vs Catherine Hall FC at EWYC, Norwood Utd vs Wadadah FC at UDC, Granville FC vs Petersfield FC at Sam Sharpe Play Field, Bamboo FC vs Village United at Bamboo Play Field, and Harmony FC vs Reno FC at Bounty Hall Play Field.
