Champs make winning start in U-13 football
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Former champions Chetwood Primary and Granville All-Age scored wins yesterday as the VMBS St James Football Association Under-13 competition continued with a double-header at the UDC field.
The win saw Chetwood take the lead on goal difference in Zone A, while Granville joined Corinaldi Avenue Primary at the top of Zone B, all on three points.
Yesterday, Jevaughn Haye, Christopher Pearson and Carnel Kerr scored for Chetwood in their 3-0 win over Bogue All-Age as they edged ahead of Barracks Road Primary and Anchovy Primary who also scored wins earlier in the week.
Granville beat Barrett Town 3-1 as Tavin Shaw and Ewan Barton scored first-half goals to give Granville the lead before Altray Phillips had pulled one back for Barrett Town for a half-time 2-1 score line.
Joel Johnson scored in the second half to restore Granville’s 2-0 cushion as they cruised to a win in their first outing.
The competition kicked off on Tuesday with Barracks Road Primary beating defending champions Catherine Hall Primary 2-0 in the opening game at the UDC fi
