Fogo close gap on Ambassadors
FLANKER, St James — Fogo United closed the gap on Zone A leaders North Gully Ambassadors to three points after edging Salt Spring United 2-1 in their St James Football Association Sandals/ATL Senior League game at Flanker on Tuesday.
In a game that started like a thatch hut on fire in front of stiff breeze where all three goals being scored in the first nine minutes, Fogo United improved to 17 points from nine games, three behind North Gully Ambassadors.
Dwayne Mills gave Fogo United the lead in the first minute then doubled it in the seventh before Jovian Bailey pulled one back for Salt Spring United.
Despite the quick start, no more goals were forthcoming for the remainder of the game.
At the UDC field, Melbourne United scored a late goal to earn a 1-1 draw with Violet Kickers, also in Zone A.
Ryan Binns scored in the 51st minute to give Violet Kickers the lead, but Rayon Cameron’s 87th-minute equaliser saw the teams share the points.
