Changes on the horizon after golf AGM
AS is traditional at this time of year, the annual general meeting of the Jamaica Golf Association will take place at the Constant Spring Golf Club.
Among the positions up for election on the executive committee is that of honorary secretary and vice-president, currently occupied by William Brown and Peter Chin, respectively.
Elections will also be held for the post of assistant secretary, ladies representative, junior golf chairperson, as well as five committee members.
Additional nominations are expected from persons wishing to serve on the executive body for the year 2012-2013.
President Wayne Chai Chong will give an account of the association’s performance over the 2012-2013 term, as well as outline plans for further development of the sport of golf. Among the items to be discussed is the revision of the policy for the selection of national teams to the annual Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships.
Brian Roper, of the Sandals chain, is chairman of the committee that has been appointed to develop and oversee the changes to the current selection policy.
The meeting is scheduled to commence at 5:30 pm tomorrow.
