Sporting ambush Tivoli at Brancourt
TOLL GATE, Clarendon — Sporting Central Academy snapped Tivoli Gardens’ six-game winning streak with a deserved 1-0 victory to close out the third round of the Red Stripe Premier League at Brancourt yesterday.
Schoolboy Corey Hylton, left unmarked at the far post, tapped in the winner on 64 minutes following a textbook Sporting Central attack of slick passing and off-the-ball movement.
Tivoli wasted a number of opportunities to equalise late on through faulty shooting and good goalkeeping from home goalkeeper Kevin Graham.
The victory means Sporting improved their points tally to 43 and in the process moved further away from the relegation zone, currently occupied by Highgate United and Savannah SC, while Tivoli, who have already sealed a top-six berth, remain on 48 points.
