Classic, Duanvale win in Trelawny
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — The race for semi-final places in the Trelawny Football Association Monymusk White Overproof Rums Major League was thrown wide open on Saturday after wins from Classic United and Duanvale in third-round cross-zone games.
Classic United’s 2-1 win over Spicy Hill saw them jump three places into first place, leading Prospect Links on goal difference, both on 26 points, while Duanvale beat Granville FC 2-1 to give them a chance at a spot in the top four.
In another game, Clarks Town moved away from the relegation zone with a 2-0 blanking of semi-final contenders Flames, who would have secured their place with a win.
The results left up to seven teams still in with a shot at the semi-finals with a round of matches to go in the third round.
Classic United got goals from Tamaro Williams in the 25th minute and Omar Hemmings in the 62nd before Fabian Dawkins pulled one back for Spicy Hill in the 75th minute.
Duanvale FC came from a goal down to beat Granville FC with goals from Dinval Wallace in the 73rd and Orlando Grey in the 76th after Kayon Hall had given Granville the lead in the 22nd minute.
At Clarks Town Dhane Johnson scored in the 42nd minute and Damarley Elliott in the 85th minute as they beat Flames 2-0, denying them for at least the time being of a place in the top four.
