Reggae for film in Poland
ONE of the many live events promoting Jamaican music in Europe is the annual Ostróda Reggae Festival in Poland.
Its 2012 staging is the focus of a documentary, Jamaica: Made In Poland. Written and directed by Mateusz Winkiel, it explores the influence reggae has on the people of Ostroda, a town located in northeast Poland.
Winkiel’s film also has interviews with artistes who performed on last year’s show including Anthony B, Rod Taylor, Peter Metro and Steve Newland from Rootz Undergound.
The soundtrack comprises songs from last year’s festival.
The Ostroda Reggae Festival was first held in 2001. It will be held this year on August 9.
