MONTEGO BAY, St James — Mid-season champions Tomorrow’s People have taken over the lead in the points table, as the race for the semi-finals of the Jamaica Football Federation Captain’s Bakery and Grill Western Confederation Super League heats up.

Tomorrow’s People’s 2-0 win over Harmony at Jarrett Park on Wednesday and former leaders Wadadah FC’s upset 1-2 loss to Holland United at the same venue 24 hours later in third-round, cross-zone games saw a change at the top of the table.

The Paul ‘Tegat’ Davis-coached Tomorrow’s People moved to the top on 28 points from 13 games, one point ahead of Wadadah FC, who have played one game more and are tied on 27 points with Reno, who have one game less.

Despite this, however, all three have booked their places in the semi-finals, leaving as many as five teams battling for the other place.

Two early goals from Davell Cornwall, in the seventh and 11th minutes, rocked relegation-threatened Harmony back on their heels on Wednesday.

Cornwall, who is now on eight goals and leading the scoring race, pounced on a ball that was knocked down by Harmony’s goalkeeper Oshane Spencer and punched it into the wide open goal to give his team the lead.

Four minutes later Cornwall punished another poor bit of defending by the Trelawny team to add another goal from close range.

The expected flood of goals did not come, however, after Harmony reorganised their defence, pulling back former national player Troy Smith from midfield.

Four days after being beaten at Jarrett Park by Reno, Wadadah lost back-to-back games for the first time this season, when Holland United surprised them.

Ronique Haynes opened the scoring after just two minutes to give Holland United the lead.

Demar Dohman levelled the scores in the 56th minute to give Wadadah hopes of getting three points, but Romaine Lewis scored his seventh goal of the season in the 75th minute, as Wadadah FC, the title favourites a month ago, suffered their third loss.

Granville United, meanwhile, continued their purple patch of winning and came from behind with two late goals to beat last-placed Logwood United 2-1 at Watson Taylor Park in Lucea, to confirm the Hanover team’s relegation at the end of the season.

Thovian Anderson gave Logwood the lead in the 36th minute, but Okeefe Brown equalised for Granville in the 75th minute before Troy Reid snatched the winner in the 89th minute.

Granville improved to 23 points in fourth place, one more than Holland United with a game in hand and could snatch a semi-final place.

Another St James team, Norwood Strikers, also continued their winning momentum, smashing a badly slumping Village United 4-1 at the Trelawny Stadium on Thursday.

Norwood, who were promoted at the start of the season, are on 19 points, same as Village United, but with a better goal difference and are a contender for a semi-final place, but have one game to go, while Village have two more to be played.

After a goal-less first half, Norwood came out in the second half smoking and Roshane Reid scored the first of his double in the 48th minute to give Norwood the lead, before adding his second n the 58th minute.

Christopher Johnson made it three-nil in the 67th minute before Hernando Hayles scored a fourth goal in the 72nd minute.

Joseph Small scored Village’s lone goal in the 85th minute

In another game played on Wednesday, Catherine Hall’s free fall don the tables continued as they were beaten 2-0 by Bamboo FC, who despite back-to-back wins for the first time this season, look well set to return to the Hanover leagues next season.

Garfield Duncan scored in the ninth minute for Bamboo, while Kevin Bowen secured the points in the 88th minute.
