French film festival kicks off this weekend
THE 12th annual Francophone Film Festival kicks off in the Corporate Area this weekend.
The festival, which runs from this Saturday, March 23 to April 6, is presented by the Alliance Française de la Jamaïque, in association with the diplomatic missions of Belgium, Canada and France.
The Francophone Film Festival is one of the biggest foreign film expos, locally. For two weeks, the Jamaican public, movie enthusiasts, and lovers of cultural diversity will be treated to an eclectic selection of the best of French, Belgian, Canadian, and French Caribbean cinema. On offer will be comedies, dramas, thrillers, and documentaries, a number of which have won film nominations and/or awards.
Films will be held on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
This year’s line-up includes France’s Le petit Lieutenant, Eldorado from Belgium, Antoine from Canada and Delice Paloma from Algeria,
The Francophone Film Festival coincides with the worldwide celebration of French Language Week (March 16 – 24) and International Day of the Francophonie (March 20).
